·       Current Delegates were elected in August 2022, or were elevated at their county convention

·       Delegates serve a 2 year term with no term limits.

·       A Precinct is the smallest geographic division in the state in the electoral process

·       To run for Delegate, a citizen must file an affidavit with his/her county clerk in early May of an even calendar year—candidates will be on the August Primary ballot

·       And remember to vote for yourself!

·       By election they represent the Precinct in which they reside, for the Republican Party

·       The Official role is to attend & actively participate & vote in all County Conventions

·       At some County Conventions Precinct Delegates elect Delegates to serve at State Convention, as well as County Executive Committees and Officers.

·       At various state conventions, delegates elect state party leaders, congressional district committee members and officers, as well as candidates for state level races like Secretary of State, Attorney General, Lt. Governor, State Board of Education, and State College Board members

·       Conventions are run using Roberts Rules of Order Newly Revised, as are state, CD, and County Committee meetings – you can learn about Roberts Rules on-line.

·       Basically, they are a set of rules used to run meetings so that things move along fairly and effectively.

·       Attend special events like Lincoln Day dinners! You don’t even have to stick to your own city or county.

·       It is a continual role with year-round opportunities and you can help the party and candidates up and down the ballot.

·       Create opportunities to get to know your neighborhood – your Precinct – and be a resource for your neighbors on the issues an the candidates.

·       Additional points to remember

·      If you were elected or elevated as a Precinct Delegate but relocate to a location outside that precinct, you are no longer a Precinct Delegate from that Precinct.
·         However, you may be elevated as a Precinct Delegate if there is a vacancy in your new Precinct. That elevation would occur following the official business at the next County Convention.
